More CFL Hunting

February 11, 2007 8:52 pm

While I’ve managed to change some of the bulbs at home to CFLs, the two most-used lighting fixtures are still sucking down energy inefficient incandescents: the dining room chandelier and the lights in the kitchen. The problem, as I mentioned in the last post, is that one is on a dimmer and the other is in recessed fixtures, neither of which can use the compact fluorescent spirals I bought a few days ago.

Today, my husband and I checked out Home Depot (Tustin and Meats) and Lowe’s (Irvine Marketplace), and were basically SOL. Neither store had dimmable bulbs, but both did carry flood light fluorescents, which is what we need in the kitchen. We ended up not purchasing any though, ’cause we weren’t quite sure of the size we needed. While I was disappointed at not finding any dimmable bulbs, we did end up leaving with a couple of packages of CFLs needed for the living room floor lamp.
